Conclusion

In getting to know the University of Wyoming and its Libraries through this search process, I am so impressed by how much has already been accomplished.  And these great accomplishments set the stage for new adventures, new horizons, new opportunities.

                   * for the library,

                   * for the University,

                   * for the people of Wyoming, and,

                   * hopefully, for me.

This has been rather quick and sketchy, but I trust it gives you a sense of how I think about things, what is important and what are my values.

I hope this offers a glimpse into a vision I am developing -- developing because I see this as a collaboration of library leadership with all the stakeholders, near and far.

And I welcome the chance to become involved in higher education in the public sector – as this fits well with my political philosophy of education contributing to the public good in greater ways.

Since my experience in the public sector has been mainly in Canada, I am excited to explore public higher education in the United States, and especially in Wyoming since I am so fond of this amazing part of the country.

In summary, I wish again to assert these points:

1. University of Wyoming Libraries is great -- and it can be greater.

2. I envison the future of UW Libraries to be in full step with the mission of the University.

3.  This is an evolving vision inasmuch as the Uinversity's mission evolves, particularly as President Laurie Nichols joins the University and as a new provost is named.

4. The UW Libraries is in a strong position to move forward in all the key sectors of University growth that will achieve the ultimate aim of being "one of the nation's finest public land-grant research universities."

I hope we can explore together expanding horizons ...
